Illinois State Toll Highway Authority

In March 2005, ETC Corporation was awarded the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority’s project to provide a new toll collection system for the Illinois Tollway’s tollway facilities — one of the largest and most significant toll collection projects in industry history. ETC Corporation will implement the various components of the RITE® Solution to meet the goals of the Illinois Tollway’s Toll Revenue Management Program, including a:

ISTHA toll road

The project will incorporate automatic vehicle identification and automatic vehicle classification technology. The project includes an aggressive integration schedule, updating and retrofitting all the lanes in the Illinois Tollway’s facilities and implementing open road tolling throughout the system.

The entire Toll Revenue Management Program will also be interoperable, designed in conformance with the Interagency Group (IAG). This will ensure that customers from other IAG participants may use the Illinois Tollway’s facilities without requiring the need for multiple transponders. ETC Corporation was awarded the reciprocity project in early 2005, in part due to its leadership in providing interoperability throughout the state of Texas. ETC Corporation’s Reciprocity Server Solution features a unique, service-oriented architecture that provides advanced enabling technology that the Authority can optimize to leverage the reusable tool base for other purposes well beyond the current scope of reciprocity.
